Surpise, I'm On The West Coast!

A lot has changed for me since my last update, and i'm sure life is pretty different for you too! I decided to make a pretty big change and I moved to Seattle. It was very hard saying goodbye to Nashville and all the incredible friends I have there. I feel like I did most of my real growing up there and it was a really difficult decision to make. Ugly mugs coffee & tea, hot chicken, good margaritas/ mexican food (really hard to find in Seattle send help), east Nashville, and everyone who made Nashville a great place to be will forever take up space in my heart.

Sharing a home with these guys in east nashville was such a special time filled with kiddy pool parties, house shows, late nights, lot's of food and countless adventures. I miss you guys and this place dearly.

I moved to Seattle October 1st along with my Boyfriend, Austin and I am starting to settle in to this new place. I got another barista job at a coffee shop in my neighborhood and am beginning to book some shows in the area. I rented a cozy studio where I live with my pup (yes she's still around and almost 16 now!) and it's been great to have this space to myself to really focus on writing.

Austin is an amazing producer and musician and he just released a new full length album, check it out :)

I have been writing new music and setting up shows. I recently wrote and recorded a song for a holiday compilation and am excited to share that with you in the next few weeks. In the meantime, did you get a chance to see my live video? Here it is in case you missed it!

I will be heading to Asheville for the holidays to be with family and look forward to coming into the new year refreshed and ready to work hard to put out new music for you all! Happy Holidays and thank you for your continued support. I love you all!

A Long Overdue Update!

Hello, hello! it's been a while since I've updated you on music/life. Seems like it would be more fun to do it using photos so here we go!

In January I released a single called "All The Dogs In My City." This past year I've been writing a whole lot and I was very excited to get to share a more recent song with you all! If you haven't heard it yet, you can buy it here or listen for free here !

With the retail store I worked at relocating to California, I've been spending a lot more time working at Ugly Mugs in East Nashville. I love making coffee for people and getting to connect with regulars. I also love drinking free coffee so that's a major plus! If you live in the area, come say hello and let me make you some coffee!

I became an aunt! Ashe and Ames were born in November and I love them even more than I imagined humanly possible! These little nuggets were all dressed up for my Dad's investiture. He got appointed to the Florida Supreme Court and we got to attend the ceremony in Tallahassee this past month! We all tried very hard, but pretty much no contest, these boys won best dressed.

Spring Tour, Strep Throat, and Thank you's <3

First of all I just want to say t h a n k  y o u to everyone who came out to see us or hosted us along the way. Your kindness was way more than I could have hoped for!!

Tour, in my experience, either greatly exceeds your expectations or throws you for a crazy loop. This tour seemed to do both for me. I was completely blown away by the kindness of strangers, and I had such a blast exploring new parts of the country with two of my best friends on the planet. I also got strep throat towards the end of our trip, not exactly ideal for a tour at all. I'm a whiney pansy when it comes to illnesses and it's hard for me to ignore my hypochondriac tendencies that suggest that i'm dying and will never be able to sing again. My poor friends had to deal with my incessant worry about upcoming shows and whether or not i'd ever get my voice back. What could have easily been met with annoyance or anger was met with gentle kindness, home remedies, and understanding. It was so humbling to receive such great care from old and new friends in a time when I felt so awful and discouraged.

Before our final show in Lynchburg, it hurt me to even talk, so I wasn’t sure I would even be able to squeak out any notes at all. Taylor (roommate/ tourmate/ dear friend) said that I had to get to a place where I was creating and performing for myself. So that even if we were performing in a noisy coffee shop with no sound system, or in a venue with a good turnout and great sound, but strep throat, you could have an amazing show; because you love to do it whether anyone is listening or not. I felt terrible and insecure going into the show. I felt like we were intruding on people’s evenings and that no one really cared what I had to say, but I closed my eyes and thought about how I spend most nights: In my living room singing songs that I wrote and believe in and feeling so at peace and like there’s nowhere else in the world I’d rather be. I put myself in that place in front of complete strangers that night in Lynchburg VA with strep throat, and I had a great show. I may not have changed any lives with my music that night, but I remembered the passion and the joy that playing brings me. I know that I can’t be the best, and I can’t even always be my best, but I love to write about the human experience and it gives me unspeakable joy to sing those songs. A joy that transcends bad sound systems, noisy venues, and even strep throat.

Again, a million thanks to our friends, hosts, fellow players, and every sweet soul we met on the road. I love all of you!!!!
